Hello

Could anyone tell me whether this T-Shirt sold on Ebay was an official one or not ?

http://cgi.ebay.es/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160522902963

Was it on sale during Mike's tour ?

Thanks

Looks like a long lot list of venue dates on the shirt?

Yes. It is why I think it is official.

I would like to know if anyone here bought it during the 1999 tour...to be sure of that.

Thanks

For me it doesn't seem an official one...even with the tour dates...I've seen some pics of the official ones on the web.

Hello yanouch65,

doesn´t seem very official.

This is what the official one should look like, with the dates between the guitars. No design on the back yet.

;)

I would love to own some Mike Oldfield T-shirts. I've heard that nowadays you can use as picture and then some people print it on a T-shirt. Do you think that is possible? I would love to own an FMO T-shirt for example.

Yes It looks the real deal but £71 is a right rip-off

Walking up Wembley Way, old or new, it can be rather difficult to persuade... erm... freelance vendors to allow you to take pictures of their wares.  I've spotted some get extremely shirty, so to speak, when they come too obviously into shot of the modern miracle that is the cameraphone.  I regret that I was neither with camera,  or enough funds, to record examples of the unoffical merchandise, but sorry, Yanouch65, reminds me of one of those.  If it's an original bootleg, you may yet consider it worth the money but you'd probably need carbon dating or something to find out.

I can only speak for the concerts in the UK, manintherain, but the reason I didn't buy the circle of guitars T-shirt was that it was the same as in the official English programme, with Mike standing in the middle which I thought spoiled the effect.

I've failed to import some relevant pictures of the that and my actual pruchase, but our tour dates were represented by country names jumbled into one another on the back.  Blue Grape were the official merchandisers

I don't speak English very well but I understand what you mean...

In my opinion, you are right. It is a "official bootleg" but my question is: can a bootleg be "official"?

:D

My answer is yes. For example, some cds are "official bootlegs" and some are home made.

Here is an example of one of the best official cd:

PS: believe me, this T-Shirt is amazing!

Ouch - paid $50 for some U2 shirts in Sydney a few weeks ago, and thought that was a lot  :D

Nice concert, now how can we convince Mike to come 'down under' on tour??

You would have been better off going to Singapore and buying an identical item from one of the flea markets there. That way you have got a holiday as well. Even the bootleggers could presumably spell "U2" (although they couldn't spell Pink Floyd; on my cassette of Dark Side of the Moon they came out as Pink J-Loyd).

It's interesting to speculate how some of Mr O's titles might change when subjected to such South-East Asian processing! (I can think of one, but it's too smutty to post, and Wiga would be shocked!    )

In England people moan about an official £20 concert tee - how many times I saw tons of complaints about it is most gigs I've attended!

In Scotland I heard a Scot moan about paying a pound to enter Dunnotar Castle!

Course - I was silly enough to drag all 3 kids along to the concert as well so cost me $200 all up (around 80-100 quid or so?)  :O
