We have all heard that Mike is not doing a premier concert for Tubular Bells 2003,which is a great shame, seeing as every other Tubular album had a concert even The Mellenium Bell in a way.So does anyone have any idea why?

Perhaps he can't find the time because he's working on new stuff?

I'd suspect that the reasons are at least partly financial. Warner haven't even been interested enough in the album to make sure the CDs are well manufactured, let alone promote it (or even release it) in places where it might have otherwise sold quite well. Does their current attitude really display the signs of a company who'd be falling over backwards to pump money into a premiere event, bearing in mind they wouldn't even cough up the money to produce a decent booklet for the Complete Tubular Bells?

Partial reason: Enough people have been posting messages in these forums complaining about "another Tubular Bells album?"  or "Please Mike give us something new!" to the point of being offensive.  Why would Mike have any reason to believe that an announcement about a new premiere concert would get any different reaction from his "fans"? :/

Though it's true that people's seeming lack of enthusiasm for Tubular Bells 2003 is probably not likely to have been much of a source of encouragement for Mike, I don't personally think that it alone would stop him from going ahead with a premiere concert - if attitudes of that kind were influencing his decisions that much, he'd not have recorded the album, as they've been going since before he started.

The decision would mostly be based on whether Mike wanted to do it (and for a while at least, he did) and whether someone was going to provide the money for it. One condition of that money being provided would certainly be based on what public opinions of the album were likely to be (specifically how many people would want to come and hear it played live), but a few negative opinions on the internet wouldn't be enough to sway that on their own.
What would be enough would be the public at large being rather lukewarm on the idea of the whole thing...

I'd actually imagine that there's more than one reason for it all, even if Mike only gives one.

Reading between the lines in those last few interviews he's done it does seem like his energies are elsewhere at the moment, certainly as far as the Tube World is concerned.
Also playing TB live would be a lot more difficult than either of the other albums as a lot more of it is hand played, though obviously performing it live is by no means impossible.

Had Mike performed it live at say the Royal Albert Hall and maybe even got it televised I have no doubt that TB2003 would have done a lot better in the charts and again given his public profile a much needed lift. But obviously he or they (WEA) decided that this wasn't worth the effort of trying.

Anyway fans who either love or loath TB2003 would still do anything to see it performed live and I'm sure Mike knows this. The fact that the world at large may not be holding it's breath for a MO concert has very little to do with some fans valid criticisms and pretty much everything to do with the fact that his recent output TB or not is not setting the world alight. Thats why some 'fans' want something new and original from him, because they want to see him back up to his full potential and being rightfully recognised for it.
