Pink Floyd are to release a new album called The Endless River in October 2014 :O
This news came out of the blue, as most people assumed David Gilmour was working on a new solo album, but is was broken on twitter by David's wife Polly Sampson, then by backing vocalist Durga McBroom-Hudson.
It is based on original sessions for the 1993-94 recording of The Division Bell. The material, described by drummer Nick Mason as ambient music, was originally conceived as an album, tentatively entitled The Big Spliff. After the death of Richard Wright in 2008 David and Nick have gone back to those sessions and expanded on them, it will be mainly instrumental, but Durga McBroom-Hudson added backing vocals in December 2013 and David has added lead vocals to at least one track.
I can't wait for this :)
