In 1973, Mike Oldfield released his debut album, Tubular Bells, which captured the world’s imagination. The chart successes followed with such hit singles as “In Dulci
Jubilo,” “Portsmouth,” “Guilty” and “Moonlight Shadow,” and the albums Hergest Ridge, Ommadawn, Five Miles Out and Crises, to name only a few. In 2012, Oldfield rocked the world stage again at the Summer Olympic Games’ Opening Ceremony in London and in 2014, released his 25th studio album, Man On The Rocks.
This Chronology covers every aspect of Mike Oldfield’s recording career, from his early days with his sister in the folk duo The Sallyangie, to his joining Kevin Ayers And The Whole World, through the recording of his albums and his numerous guest appearances. The information is presented date by date in chronological order,
accompanied by detailed descriptions of each song version and non-album track, the edits, remixes, extended versions and demos (some released and some unreleased). The book also covers Mike’s tours and live appearances.
