Nice new site!! smile I like the use of the MITR cover as the opening image... using the symbols on his hands to navigate... well done Mike!

Olivier... have I missed something... I've looked all over the site and can't find the "chill-out" sample which you refer to. Can you help guide me to the right place?

Keep up the great work Mike... looking forward to Tres Lunas!!! smile

The music I spotted is in the background in the Tuition section. I dont' find it particularly beautiful. I personnally hope the album will sound more alive, will not be only something to help relaxation, and Mike will not resist putting some nice melodies in it (even if melodies may not be appropriate for good relaxation).

Also, I've noticed the Man In The Rain photo is "mirrored" (left is right).

Extract from "Tres lunas"

Looking at some stars in the firmament,
Brazil was so far, but in an instant,
Music was coming to give a rythmic,
Many words express poetic music.

Chorus:
Brazil oh Brazil
Voyage warm and bright
Brazil oh Brazil
Shooting star in night
Express many things
I make wish dreaming
So near the death in misery

I think the new site is horrible.
We don't need flash, flash and more flash, is slow, we only need a simple but complete web with some flash. Don't you think tubular.net is much better? What mike needs is to find a new webmaster.

I guess I'm a bit too nervous about the project and focus too much on the music (since I have a Mac, I'll not play a lot with the game part of it, and anyway, I find the graphics not nice, not artistic, and they don't help me relax at all - they make me feel angry...).

In the Tuition section, there is some background music, and I suppose that's the chill out style we can expect on the album. Thie music was already there in the previous version of the site, I believe. In the new version, Mike removed the melodic samples, and emphasizes more and more chill out music and relaxation in the blurbs.

raven4x4x! The hands is on the mainpage www.mikeoldfield.com Skip the /mike-start.html part in your browser.

By the way. Could someone please transelate the words chill out into swedish. Those two words describes nothing to me. Please!

I like the new site, I really do. But it is quite hard to navigate on it, that I agree with you. Not showing which one of the two hands on the mainpage that goes to the MVR section and to the mike section is a terrible miss I think. Couse those symbols on mikes hands are not much of clue. Not to me at least. But all in all I like the site and looking forward to the new demo.

To find the 'music sample' and the video...

You'll want to click the hand with the triangle symbol (Mike's left hand, screen right) which will bring you to http://www.mikeoldfield.com/start.html

Hovering the mouse over 'information' then brings up a little menu, from which you'll want to select 'tuition' - the background music fom the tuition page is what Olivier was talking about when he mentioned music samples. I personally don't feel that this is representative of what will be on the album, but is just there to add a bit of audio fairy dust...

Going over to 'resources' and then selecting 'presentation' will get you the page where you'll be able to find the video - there's a pulsating thing saying 'connection' in the middle of the screen, then hidden right down near the bottom, in black against the dark background are three connection speeds to choose from (they turn white on mouseover) - click one of those and the relevant realvideo will load.

If it's any help, 'chill out' is a trendy way of saying 'relax' - chill-out music is music to relax to.

New images are certainly impressive and show that the demo actually is just a tiny portion of the whole MVR experience - on paying for Part One I think it must push back the blue barriers so we can explore much, much more! Will Part II just be a further extension ? We shall see.

As for the quest for the rings - was Mike inspired by J.R.R.Tolkien?

I'm amazed that Olivier, you said the graphics are not really artistic and makes you angry! I find the whole experience (even of the demo) very relaxing - I agree that the images can be improved on but I tend to use the existing images to add upon with my imagination. I'm very excited and can't wait to get the whole thing!

Come on, the images are not impressive at all! Here is a shitty site, and the graphics are better than MVR. http://www.dreamscaping.com/

If you insist, I will show you screenshots of top-notch 3D games, even the paintings on the walls of these games are more detailed and imaginative than a MVR screenshot...

It costs a fortune to make realistic real-time 3D games, and apparently Mike wanted to keep his project on low budget. Considering that, we can argue that the results are not bad.

I'm used to compare Mike productions to the best things around (actually it goes beyong that: I rarely bother to check out other guys CDs because I think it will not be as good as Mike stuff...) but in my opinion MVR doesn't reach at all the greatness of his music. The CDROM part of TSODE was very well done, and kind of ahead on its time, MVR is quite different, it looks like a very old project.

I'm with Olivier - the MVR graphics and images are VERY primitive. Interactivity in 3-D is generations beyond what Mike is doing. It may be enjoyable (we shall find out), but it is hardly revolutionary or impressive. Any one of us could create these very low polygon rendered images.

Not beautiful at all.

He also should have considered using a different "game" engine rather than the one he's using; they work faster more cooperatively.

But I remain hopeful that the music will redeem this thing...
