I hadn't listened to Discoveryfor some time, but I did today. The following thoughts occurred during the experience:

"Poison Arrows" sounds like "Riders on the Storm" scored for a James Bond film.

I quite like "Saved by a Bell"! It's silly, but it's also optimistic and has a sense of wonder about it. Also, I like it when Mike signs about space.

The beginning of the "Lake" reminds me of the beginning of "QE2". Perhaps a certain well known ship took a wrong turn at Albuquerque and ended up in the lake?  :p

Yes, see what you mean, the first line of Poison Arrows - "Silence in the air" is sung like, "Riders on the Storm."

Spot on with the JB reference NS.
Also" To France" would make a good soundtrack to the Harrison Ford remake of "Sabrina".

Yes, the syllabic pattern is identical too. I can't believe no one has noticed this before...

Milamber: so that's another JB track (the other one being "Mastermind").

There's a very "James Bond" guitar sound in "the Lake" too. The bit with the shuffle beat. It could also be described as a "Hank Marvin" sound of course, but I always thought of it as a James Bond type sound.

But really, the Doors/Mike Oldfield connection is a bit bizarre!

Actually, I noticed the JB connection with "The Lake" too. Lars, are you saying you can't hear the resemblance between "Silence in the air" and "riders on the storm"?

Milamber: given that "The Shining Ones" is about giant squid, there could perhaps be a JB connection via Octopussy!
