The retro stylings of MOTR got me wondering what the record might have looked like if released in, say, 1976 as a single vinyl album.  Were I in the position of sequencing it, I'd probably end up with:

SIDE ONE

1. Man on the Rocks
2. Moonshine
3. Nuclear
4. Irene
5. Castaway

SIDE TWO

1. Sailing
2. Dreaming in the Wind
3. Minutes
4. Chariots
5. I Give Myself Away

A powerful side 1, and a somewhat balmier side 2.  Following the Angels had to go as it's subject matter would have been impossible in '76, plus I do kind of think I Give Myself Away is too similar in mood for them to both find a place.

Do you think as an album this would have worked?

Hmmm... might have to try this as a playlist.

MOTR in 1976, the time of Hergest Ridge and Ommadawn, wouldn't have sold a single copy...  :p

Joking... interesting playlist.
