Just a curious guy, is MO going to play live or not?

No  :/

I understand there's going to be this improvisation band playing 'Tubular Bells Project', and apparently there's some good musicians in this band - the Charles Hazelwood All Stars!!

Just under 12 hours to go so if the Glastonbury experience is typical, Pinhead and any others had better set out for the stage now! :D

The official site

http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/festivals/glastonbury/2011/lineup/

and the BBC's.

What that means is no fixed cameras for the Spirit of 71 stage, so someone's roving report is as much as I'm expecting - if it catches anyone's fancy.  A surprise guest star just might help.  Anyone here work at UK Customs?  Any suspicious entrants to this country recently?

Yes, good advice Cav!

The Charles Hazelwood All Stars are on at 00.25 for 35 minutes... playing 'Tubular Bells' it says. They don't get long do they.

No, we're counting on Pinhead to get us some pictures.

Picture on Twitter:

Tubular Bells does finally get underway extremely late. Mallets were found in the mud eventually. Very beautiful.

I should have chosen my words more carefully.  I can't pretend I know the real names of most of the Wu-Tang Clan but Method Man said they were not treated especially well by Customs...

Thanks for the Twittering, Tati.  I've found a couple from Charles Hazlewood himself - not an unquestioning fan of the orginal!  And why wait for mallets?  Someone we know could have supplied a hammer! :D

If anyone gets a recording of this I'd be most interested to hear what a band fearturing Adrian Utley make of Tubular Bells!!

Listen to Mohribold; an epic musical tapestry that weaves between a multitude of genres.

Andrew Taylor's Mohribold album has proved very popular with fans of symphonic-rock, prog-rock, psych-folk and indeed Oldfield's classic albums!

I've found a (very short, about 15 seconds) extract on youtube. Set to not be embedded but if you follow this link and listen at around 2:00 you should hear a wee bit...

I'll leave it up to my colleague to describe. Was a bit mashed at the time . . . (':/';)

"One of the performers was the music teacher of a friend I was with. So I got dragged along, admittedly without too much persuasion. The show was great, but started 1 1/4 hours late due to delays getting someone to the stage. Fortunately we were sheltered from the rain by the overhang of the stage and able to lean against the rail. Otherwise we may have given up.

It was a very competent performance of Tubular Bells, and during the spoken portion where the instruments are introduced a rather dishevelled and frankly out-of-it gentleman came out and did that portion of things. Speculation was that it was Mike Oldfield, and his eyes looked right. However he wasn't introduced as Mike Oldfield and I can find no mention of it on the net. So make of that what you will. If it was MO he really looked worse for wear."

So did you record it? I'd like to have a look for myself.

I thought I saw him in that clip that was posted, but I'm hopeless at recognizing faces. It's the sort of thing that would be fun to do, I think.  :D

Are you thinking he's that guy with the mustache holding the piece of paper at 2.34 in. His face is too long to be Mike's   :/ :D

Anyway - a nice alien kind of dance interpretation going on at the same time the band played.
