Mike will be Richard Allison's guest during the Steve Wright's Big Show on BBC Radio 2 this Thursday.

Update: Mike said he is working on a very long instrumental, probably in 3 parts without any drum loops. A tour might follow.

Sounds really exciting dosent it!!

He said specifically that it will be classical in structure , probably around 3 parts and REALLY long....!

He wants to get right back to what he set out to achieve in the 70s.

There will be NO drum loops, dance beats etc...

He wants to perform the piece at a proper concert (hinting at Exposed style string section etc).

ITE EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR!!!!! YAYYY

He also talked about why he is getting rid of his guitars -

Apparently the only one left is the TB Stratocaster - he pointedly said he'd though tBranson might have bought it "The guitar that launched an empire" and all that!! Very cheeky!
He said that he now has much better guitars from Japan (?) - musically perfect etc. so the old ones are just lying around doing nothing... Sounds fair enough!

He will now make album from his heart, and he will do it like he want to do it.
Very long instrumental, problamy in three parts, is not gonna have drum loops, is not gonna be cool, not gonna be hip, not gonna be sexy, "its simply gonna be me making my kind of music, make a really consept again." He will try to do what he started to do, like in the 70’s.
He will have piece of music that people can sitt down and really listening to the music on a concert. With a lot of details, tempered, slowing down, speeding up ect..

sorry if my englsh is bad, but im so happy.. and i uploading the radio recording now...

Can Mike possibly know how happy he has made me ( and I sense many of us here) this afternoon?? A long piece of music, this is exactly what I have been yearning for for so long. And it was lovely to hear that he seems to feel free enough to do what he wants, and does best, I think, rather than what the record company say. Instrumental music in three parts, that's going to be interesting, 3 is a very special number.

And if there is to be a tour in the future then I had better start saving for one of those satelite navigation devices so I can get to see the concert!! As noone I know is even remotely interested in the music I'll have to get there under my own steam so I'm bound to get hopelessly lost if I don't have one. Perhaps I could have Mike's voice giving instructions, he has such a lovely calming voice. And when I arrive at the destination, the sound of Tubular Bells!!

It was a good interview to hear, Mike sounded happy and relaxed and positive about his work.

Great stuff!

:)  :) bee

Is this a dream??
I think i loose my head..

Yes, it all sounded very good from Mike, he seems positive about what he wants to do, i have a feeling that in writing his new book, he has reminded himself of who he used to be and what he used to do, and i am really looking forward to the new long album.Just don't forget the London congestion charge Mike ;)

I don't mean to be cynical, but I think what's happened is that he's seen the sales figures of Light and Shade.

But hell I'm looking forward to hearing that album he's talking about!

That's a really hilarious remark about RB buying the "guitar that launched an empire" ,for the Virgin Airlines lounge .

This IS FANTASTIC news :D, a new album of three (possibly) long pieces I'm so HAPPY Mike has decided to return(or should that be go forward) to his '70's roots. Mike said himself that, it'll just  be himself, making his type of music.  Plus the news of wanting to tour too,  :D.

Great now I'm about to start a new job, I can get some money together.

YIPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEE

Sounds good to me. This will be sounding good when it's done. I might even buy it.
