Finally something new, even if it is "just" Terry featuring Mike and I know it's not going to be my cup of tea. In fact, it's likely going to be pretty much exactly what I didn't want to hear from Mike any more.

Will be checking it out regardless, as it looks like the whole album is going to be "featuring" Mike, not just one track.

In my opinion Mike would be the perfect person to marshall a space odyssey of his own!

Awesome!

This brightens up my day after having lost my luggage.

I used to think that was what he had done with "The Songs of Distant Earth"; that is, until I read the book and found out that almost none of it is set in space. (I did get an "underwater" type feel from the album as well though, even before that.)

The thought occurred to me as well.  :D

BTW, I've always found it terrible how these new age labels print their logo on the front cover. Why? It looks cheap and ugly. The only label I can think of that found a stylish way to do that (and it's not a new age label) is Real World.

Mike's brother Terry Oldfield has announced on his facebook page that he has a new album titled Journey into Space due for release July 2012. The album cover states that the album features Mike Oldfield.

Thanks jjmillenium!

Doesn't *look* like an April Fool, that is Terry's own facebook page.

I've popped up a news item about this here and will ask Olivier to weave his database magic and merge this topic with the news topic. In the meantime please put new comments into the news topic!

It seems that the album will be out on July and we can hear some excerpts in his official web: www.terryoldfield.com

In fact, some days ago, he said that he's working on a track that the both brothers used to play on Barefoot :)

The post re the Barefoot track appears on Terry's personal facebook page www.facebook.com/terry.oldfield

The track is a re-recording of a song written and performed whilst Mike and Terry were in Barefoot.

Barefoot, Oldfield collaborations! Now that sounds interesting! I'm really looking forward to this!

At last some new music from Mike Oldfield, even when it's "only" a co-op. I hope Mike Oldfield will not appear only in one or two tracks but will featuring on entire new album of his brother.

Not sure why people were suggesting an April Fool. Firstly there's no humour in it, it looks nothing like an April Fool. Plus it's not April Fool's Day!
