Hi everyone,
I'm just new around here and I'm Dutch so if you see a little mistake in my English, don't worry, there's nothing wrong with me.
I'd like to discuss in this poll a bit about the new DVD of Mike Oldfield called Live in Montreux 1981.

I was the one that tipped off Tubular.net (all the other Mike Oldfield-fansites copied the news from Tubular.net).

The first thing that cought my attention was that this DVD was for sale as a pre-order at the Dutch webshop NLStore.nl
This is a very reliable webshop in Holland, recommended through the Dutch consumers federation.
Anyway, just after I saw it was on sale there I started 'Googling' around for details. But there weren't any.

Indeed the company PIAS (Belgian company: PIAS = Play It Again Sam) does not give any information to simple customers as we (very silly thing to do if you are a company).

Recently the Dutch website dvd-home.nl informed at its dvd-releaselist that the DVD is being released at the 16th of May. DVD-home get's informed about these release dates from the manufacturers self, consequently PIAS in this case.
Here you'll find the list of all DVD's to be released in the near future in Holland: http://www.dvd-home.nl/release/nieuw.asp

Dvd-home is the only Dutch website that has a very up to date releaselist of dvd's in furure to come. Like NLStore a very reliable website, therefore there is no doubt about the dvd not coming.
I discovered after a little bit of surfing that this MO-DVD is not specially made for Mike Oldfield. I think Mike has very little to do with this. PIAS is releasing a whole range of dvd's with concerts that have been given 'live in Montreux'. Other artists are Joe Cocker and Johnny Cash for example.
I think that when PIAS releases more info about this DVD it can by read at this link: http://www.dvd-home.nl/pers/pias.htm

As PIAS is an international company I don't see any reason why they release this DVD only at the Dutch market. That would be stupid of PIAS. Furthermore i expect that this dvd will also be available in other webshops that just NLStore.

I'll keep you informed when I discovered more information.

Greetings from Holland!

Rob :D

can any of you comprehend how pathetic it is for all of you sitting here talking about rumours!?
it's ridiculous!
michael oldfield needs to show more signs of activity!
it is unfair to his fans.
check any other active musician/band's webpage!
this website is updated once every three months or so.
dreadful. totally dreadful.
when is this new album coming out?
does it even exist?
no wonder he isn't as successful as he should be, the way he does business... more hype = better sales...
and enough with the video games!
that isn't going to appeal to the masses.
never will, people think computers are geeky; they always will.
i hate mike oldfield for living the way he is...
i know he is God, but why does he have to be so damn lazy?
he's a 40 million seller for Christ's sake!

is some news so much to ask for? :(

I'm a little less critical. I'd love for him to come out with more albums, the sooner the better (and the more the better). However, consider the enjoyment I have from his previous work, I'd never call him unfair or lazy, or criticize his personal life. I'm disappointed, yes, but it is his life to lead (even if he chooses not to soothe our itching cloth ears!;)

Not as pathetic as trying to stir up trouble with posts like that...at least the guys talking here are polite and on-topic. If trolling is the way you like to spend your time, I'm sure a lot of us could come to hate you for living your life the way you do.

What has your post got to do with this topic, exactly? This isn't a rumour, it's a confirmed piece of news.
If you want to complain about rumours, go over to the rumors (sic!) section and complain there...except I'd actually rather you didn't, as complaining on this particular matter is rather pointless. Almost everyone here is looking forward to hearing news about Mike's new album (some with less enthusiasm than others...), and whinging isn't going to make it come any quicker.

What kind of news do you expect, exactly? Do you need to be reminded every week that Mike is still working on the new album? That's all the news there is.

I almost think that this might be a good idea :)

Good news! The dutch version of www.Bol.com, one of the largest DVD/book/music internet store, is now offering the DVD too!!! I think this really means the DVD is going to be released!

Bad news is that it says the DVD will be released 6th of january 2006. :/

Here's the link:  http://www.nl.bol.com/is-bin....ction=1

yes, you're right. oops sorry.  :O

But I think it's a typo mistake, since it has not been released yet. They say it's going to be released somewhere in 2006.
