You can listen to this tune here:

It was played on a MO radio special last week in Germany...it wasn't included on L+S,now I know why...

hehe not me either, but i think it would worked to be such a b - side song on surfing or night shade. I dont mind this and i like it (must be the lonely only one he he)
There is some good moments in it. I think it would work better without the choir. Vocaloids would work maybe..

Well Tubularman, you're not the only one who likes it!
I think it's great. A new classic piece of music being raped by Mike.

It's very funny indeed.

like the guitar bits but the rest of the tune is a bit lame, i can see the funnyside in it, but not a good advert for mikes talents! lol

With the sampled vocals & everything, sounds to me more like a demo than anything else. And I think it's very nice, for a demo. :D

@ Oblique: Mike "raping" classical music? Naaaah, to me it's more like a very free re-interpretation, just as Romance was. And I just love Romance. :)

This is Mike testing out his (then) new software and stuff? Take away the guitars and it could be any kid in his bedroom mixing. But I kind of like it - like a bad comedy show. Wincing and laughing and admiring the graft all at the same time.

Anyone remember the "Hooked on Classics" series of albums?

Or - is this a preview of the "NOTP" tour?

I think it's worth mentioning that Mike said something like "no-one seemed to like it except for me" with a laugh about Hallelujah at the time when he promoted L+S.

To me, it evokes similar feelings as Lakme, I'm not against them at all and I can even see the joy in them. :) In fact, I love that little guitar riff all the way through.

I originally suspected that this track was based on the 'Hallelujah' demo track of Cantor, one of the vocaloid software Mike used on L+S.

Thanks for the link, Tati! :)

I think the 'no one seemed to like it except me' quote speaks volumes for Mike's musical judgement these days. I wish people had said the same thing to him about Romance and Lakme. However much you love everything MO you've got to admit this just isn't the sort of musical crassness you expect form him is it?
I know there is the argument that you don't always have to take things so seriously, this is just Mike mucking about in the studio, not every album is Ommadawn, there's always room for a bit of musical fun, but you can have fun and still have artistc merit, look at Amarok. Whatever happened to Mike's wonderful musical idiosyncrasies?

Secretly I sometimes wondered about that too. But I'm not going to judge until I hear the new album with long pieces. For me, personally, I feel he didn't release anything I thought was up to his standards since 1999's Guitars. (L&S being the most enjoyable of this period) So for me this next album is really important. Then I will see that he still is the greatest, or that he lost it forever. In that case, it'll be very sad...

very true stefan..
The next album is very very important. Maybe the most important since TSODE or TB3. When i hear halleluja it makes me think of the song he did in the art in heaven section (last brick) song of joy.
We have many songs that are strange and rare. This song is not released. And dont forget how many who was afraid he lost it when he started to sing or made earth moving.
never forget what album that came out after earth moving  ;)
Only time will tell.
