Word UK magazine has published an article about Kevin Ayers in their October 2008 issue. Mike Oldfield is mentionned as having gave him as a gif a portable recording studio. Scan 1, scan 2, scan 3.

Thanks, bee!

Interesting interview.A friend of mine was once of the opinion that the main reason why Brian Eno composed all that ambient stuff back in the 70`s.Was due to the fact that he was probably too "shagged out" to do anything else, after all those constant 48 hour orgyfests he`d be going to with Kevin Ayers...Ambient 5:On Viagra..Or as it would have been known back in those days I guess.."Giv us` about 20 minutes and I`ll see if I can`t come up with anything".

I did`nt know Ollie Halsall was Kevin`s "musical partner" for a time. Now that guy was some guitar player. The sort of player that makes me wish I could play myself just to appreciate him more if you like.

A little known fact: did you know that Kevin Ayres invented the Bananascope. A curious instrument, something like a keleidoscope and a telescope, that can see round corners. :)

 No I did`nt know that I would`ve loved one of those things when I was a kid.In fact I still would`nt mind one now.You know I`m guessing with the right marketing he could`ve made some real big money off that.Heh heh, and then squandered it appropriatly by the accounts of that interview.

I am aware that Ayers once released an album entitled Yes We Have No Mananas???So maybe the guy was some kind of banana obsessive on the quiet? Can`t blame the bloke really you know bananas generaly are pretty awesome things. They once inspired the lyric.."I love the way you shake your pottassi-um"..Which imo is just about as good as it gets..Banana wise!

Is there a fourth page? The article seems to stop mid-sentence.
