We can already announce that 2011 will see a new Jean Michel Jarre album.

This album is called “Memories & Rarities”, a double CD album which includes hits, inedits and pre-Oxygene material.

The launch of the album is due to be held on the three first months of 2011.

"Memories & Rarities" will be released, before Jean Michel Jarre
gets back to the studio to record new materials. Stay tuned on our
website and Facebook page.

Note:
the brand new album will follow shortly after this release.

Does this mean that we're liable to expect no more new material from JMJ? His last three releases have all been new versions of old things. :( Oh well, a rarities collection is always a nice thing. :)

That sounds better. As long as the new album isn't something like Téo & Téa Part II. Yuck. :D

I've read an interview with JMJ and he considered Teo and Tea as an error in his career!

this album has some great tracks but i see your point :D
i think the opening track is very nice, same with OK, do it fast, Partners in crime 2, Vintage and  Melancholic Rodeo.
I hope for something like this in the future.. :)

T&T (the title track) is quite nice to me as well, but JMJ had already done simple, uncomplicated, un-Jarre-ish, four-on-the-floor dance music on Méthamorphoses and Aéro (whose title track was, of course, recycled from a Méta track)... I thought he'd had enough of that by the time he did the Téo & Téa album!! :O Also, "Melancholic Rodeo" is just a preset patch on a groovebox, the Roland MC-808. [OK, JMJ created that patch, but on the actual album track he didn't play anything!!] "Vintage" and "OK" are nearly the same.

@ Tati: I've never read the interview you mention, but it's very easy to see why JMJ considers T&T a mistake in his career. It is. :D

@ nightspore: he doesn't look too happy because he knows that most of the album's content is crap.

Lacking the fluency, I don't often trawl the French internet for fun.  The link above does let me see why the hearts of L'Académie française must be breaking.  2CD?  Witness the compromise, if not defeat, of le disque compact!  Thank heavens for le téléchargement!

They should start stopping  to write "CD" on music "art"work.
- It's not artistic, very commercial
- Downloads are replacing CDs (they should write something like "120min" instead if they insist on butchering artwork with slogans)

Maybe, but I'm a sucker for physical CDs and I absolutely detest downloads. As long as CDs exist, downloads will always be a kind of last resort for me. :)
