hi,

I know probably nothing of guitars...but his usage of two electric guitars sort of astounds me...the red one sings very beautifull and the other one sounds like it's more raw...what kind of instruments are these?

Red (actually salmon pink) guitar = 1950s Fender Stratocaster.
Light brown guitar = PRS Custom 24. PRS is Paul Reed Smith, UK-based guitar making firm.

The PRS Custom sounds 'rawer' because its signal goes through a whole lot of effects, including distortion and wah, while the Fender Strat is always (pretty much) clean.

@ Korgscrew: am I right? ;)

@ Jesse: Korgscrew once told me that Mike's Fender Strat has got no effects at all, just standard compression.  ;)

This video/dvd of this concert was choreagraphed beautifully. The guitar"cam" showed Mike's technique clearly. Still has the most unique and beautiful finger picking on the strat, prs custom, and classical/acoustic! Mike is still master of his craft imho!

I thought it was from 1957. Is that Fifties or Sixties? :D

The Pink one is from 1963 and I think it is the Sixties!

The original colors name still is Fiesta Red. And yes, it is from 1963.

Fender Custom Colors: Color Confusion.

Right you are Yanouch! How about the PRS Custom and the ibinex acoustic guitars? Year of manufacture?

The PRS Custom 24 first turned up on Earth Moving and presumably is from 1988 or 1989.

What do you mean by ibinex? Variax guitars?

The Variax Axoustic 300 Steel could be from 2006.

:O

I may be wrong, but I think that ex meant Ibanez. And I may be wrong also here, but I don't think that Mike ever played anything by Ibanez. That's mainly Joe Satriani's & Steve Vai's favourite brand. :D

You´re right. Mike has never owned any Ibanez guitar as far as I can tell.

Thanks Yanouch and Ugo, yes I meant Ibinez, reminds me of an ibex(a wild goat lol!;). Pierre Moylen used an ibinez in TB 2. Not too sure which acoustics Mike used here. Any idea?

Still don´t know what you are talking about.

Pierre Moerlen didn´t play on Tubular Bells II, he is (was) not a guitar player but a percussionist and I don´t see any Ibanez (with an "a") on TB II.

Do you mean the premiere at Edinburgh Castle on September 4th 1992?

Mike played a couple of Lowden guitars (Artist LSE II Stage Edition and an Acoustic Classic).

Yes, I was referring to the Edinburgh Castle Premier of TB2. Thanks for the info. I am aware that the line up varied. Still his best live performance (Mike) imo
