One of the other guitarists was playing an Ibanez.Looked like one of the Frank Gambale models. One of the ones with the Wizard (ie lolly stick) necks!Super skinny things for speed merchant players.

That guys name is Hugh Burns. He played on the following tracks

When I Need Love - Albert Hammond
Night Owl- Gerry Rafferty
Black Is Black - Cerrone
Careless Whisper - Wham
Faith - George Michael
Edge Of Heaven - Wham
Jesus To A Child - George Michael
Wake Me Up Before You Go - Wham
Freedom - Wham
Walk Under Ladders - Joan Armatrading

and is most recognized for his guitar solo on Gerry Raffertys Baker Street.

The instrument he plays at the concert is an Ibanez 540. The picture here shows him with a Fender Stratocaster.

;)

That´s right. And there was another guy who played in that band called Simon Phillips:

Simon Phillips singing background with Tony Hymas (Keyboards) and Hughie Burns (Guitar) during Jack Bruce recording of "How´s Tricks" 1977.

And another reference: The man who played the saxophone solo on Baker Street also played on the tracks Islands and Earth Moving - Raf Ravenscroft.

The world´s so small!

I thought Hugh was French lol! (the beret). Did he play acoustic and electric at Horse Guards Parade? He had longer hair! Robin, the conductor from Edinburgh TB 2 also had progressed to keyboards and guitar

Red (actually salmon pink) guitar = 1950s Fender Stratocaster.
Light brown guitar = PRS Custom 24. PRS is Paul Reed Smith, UK-based guitar making firm.

The PRS Custom sounds 'rawer' because its signal goes through a whole lot of effects, including distortion and wah, while the Fender Strat is always (pretty much) clean.

@ Korgscrew: am I right? ;)

isn't it the prs signature that I see in the instruments list?

I actually saw Mike using a third guitar in the TB2 concert and that one is more brownish. He mostly seems to use the yellow prs and a red strat.

I kinda wonder if the custom 24 is the guitar we see so often and that it's not the brownish guitar we see sometimes on the concerts.

I think you are speaking about the Fender Stratocaster Sunburst you can see here:

Is it this one?

In my opinion, this PRS (http://tubular.net/instruments/photos/PRS_Custom24.jpg) was used in 1998 (London) and 1999 (Berlin) but not in 1992 (Edinburgh).

manintherain could say more about this....
