An interesting analysis in any case...
Although I have to admit that I need a second/third read tomorrow. I noticed that I reached the borders of my English knowledge wink

And a very interesting analysis it is too. Great work Korgscrew.

I recommend that it should be read right now, or otherwise read it later.

Much impressed,

Yes. And please notice the big differences between Inc 1&2 and 3&4. Something must have happened there in Mike's life.

I'm glad pople are finding it useful and (hopefully) interesting.

It might or might not be interesting to note that part 3 has no vocals at all in it. It's perhaps just to give a break between the two large poem sections, or maybe just because Mike felt it was right, or...there are a load of possibilities wink

Mike did two sections before taking the Exegesis therapy and two after, and said afterwards that the two he did after it were the only parts he really liked. What I forget is which parts those were, but if I remember rightly it was either 1 and 3 or 2 and 4. I'll see if I can find out for sure.
His use of lyrics in parts 2 and 4 is, of course, different to that in part 1 (and 3 where there aren't any).

I think the Part 3 was done after his therapy. It has many ressemblance with Platinum (the first side). And you have this aggressive side you find in Platinum. Don't think about the aggressive side in Hergest Ridge (Thunderstorm part). It's different. I think about the construction of the music.
I think that the Part 4 was a bit like Platinum (the second side).
The construction of the Part 1 and 2 are more like Ommadawn. It's the Mike without therapy.

A bit long after you first wrote it Korgie, but I have just read your analysis. Very good work :) Clears up a lot of things I wasn't sure about.
