omgmo - interesting. do you think you hear any of these feelings in his music?

Oh yes, certainly! Like in "Moonlight Shadow", "Innocent", "Pictures In The Dark", "Waldberg", "Taurus", "Out Of Mind"...
Feelings of relief, inner peace, strength or freedom.

 Don't argue, we are all going to live for ever, in various forms. And this form of life (or of living) is quite bad...
True happiness in our current form is so hard to achieve.

Perhaps Mike would enjoy being uploaded into an AI a la the SF of Greg "I am Woman" Egan - lots of musical advantages.  :D

According to Jon Anderson in "For You, For Me", "No other life form asks why", although cats can look quite quizzical at times.

Did Mike use his Gibson L6-S Deluxe electric guitar in addition to his then more common electric guitars (fiesta red fender strat, sunburst fender strat, TV yellow Gibson Les Paul junior, Cherry Red Gibson Les Paul SG Junior, Roland G808 and Hofner Shorty) on the Discovery and Islands albums?

What's  the Strider reference in Hergest Ridge?

If you remove the letters of "Strider" from "Hergest Ridge" you are left with the letters of  "He egg", which indexes Mike Oldfield's Heaven's Open album cover.

stride he egg? :D  :D  :D

I think he would prefer questions that are different from the normal ones he gets from interviewers, which tend to be about Tubular Bells.

ok, i am a retired journalist (among other things). if all a journalist/interviewer can think to ask about is the one thing everyone already knows about s/he ought to get another job or go back to journo school.

there are innumerable questions that can be asked of anyone - let's take the creative field - but one shouldn't  start with the most obvious because it's been done to death.

i recall when the beatles first showed up in north america and almost everyone asked some permutation of "when are you getting a real haircut" and all the old guys on rewrite wrote unwitty captions under imagined-bald-beatles-at-50. no imagination.

It happens a lot with Mike Oldfield interviews, it also happens with another of my favourite artists, Mark Knopfler, he is always asked how did you write Sultans of Swing or Money For Nothing!!! he has explained that lots and lots of times, and in any case, a 10 minute internet search will provide the answer, ask somethin new, about less well know things, in Mike's case ask about Amarok for example, or even Earth Moving, just something other than Tubular Bells.

My question: "Would you like to live for ever?"
I'm assuming Mike would have to answer truthfully.

What an amazing question!

took me a while to decide what i would ask.

"is your decision to leave the vocals to others based on ego, or realism?"
