Poor Viv would be spinning in his grave! Would love to see Mike do a Marc Bolan and TRex! Horse guards showcased Mikes wild side though! The synch guitar pieces with Mike really showing how a guitar should be played! He had the band playing alongside esp guitarists in harmony. That was pretty amazing. So Mike is usually a quiet man but every now and then the wild child comes out! Wish he was still touring, back to the DVDs! Deb

Well by all accounts he hung onto Marc Bolan's tele so it could happen.I somehow doubt it though.

LOL Caveman! I dont think we will see the Telecaster live again either! I suppose Mike has had a life time of touring, hotel rooms and Managers he had to work with, some made it hard for him. The commercial and promotional aspects would have been a bit of a bummer! At least his concerts were memorable and IMHO outstanding. Watching Mike play made me want to learn to play. Now I know the pure joy of playing even if its simplistic tunes! Deb

Absolutely right Deb.Doesn't matter how easy or hard something is as long as it feels good to play it.

@ smillsoid: that's Hugh Burns, a rather famous session player. He also played on TB II, and he's well-known for having played (and still playing) with George Michael.

Hugh is most famous for his guitar solo on Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street.

Anyone know what happened to the giant tubular bells played in this concert?  What where the notes?  What material where they?

I love the idea of being most famous for a guitar solo on a song best known for its saxophone solo. :D

I still remember the rain and cold all these years later. Since my last post something interesting has happened, my eldest daughter got married in November 2019 and her husbands auntie is Katherine Rockhill, who played the piano at this concert :) It is weird to think I was at that concert with someone who would be in my family years later!!! I actually talked to her about this concert and Mike at the wedding, she was as suprised about the coincidence as I was, she was impressed with Mike and honoured to be asked to play for him, she said the rehearsed at Mike's house too, but she said he was shy and quiet.

Because of your love for Mike's music, maybe some "law of attraction" brought the young couple together??
