Thats more or less what I thought you meant but the problem is (11:59/13:38) the slower beat allows much more expression but the faster one gives more of an impact back into the slower heavy part that comes next but you have to play the fast one as straight time with less fills what to do what to do?

Do it fast. And do all the fills you want, but beware of the risk of going off-beat, which is high. :)

P.S. If you have the old original mix of HR somewhere (not the so-called "1974 original mix" on the new version - that's not the original 1974 mix, as it's been re-touched!! :O), listen for the percussive "beat" done by the nutcracker in that section. That is the beat you should re-interpret - not copy or re-do, but re-interpret. :)

TB Part 1 also sounds "drumless", yet drums were added to it by Morris Pert during the Exposed shows, and they don't sound out of place at all - at least to me.

I think it's hard to tell if I find a rocked-up HR such an impossible idea because it didn't get the "groop"-makeover or if it didn't get the makover because it sounded like an impossible idea.

I try to imagine the HR opening theme with a drumbeat and Mike Howlett-style funky basslines...I don't know...what do you think? Can you hear it?

:O

Imagine Primus doing a cover of HR.

Mike had an Irish Wolfhound,
He stroked it all the time

No. All the old CD copies of HR have Mike's Boxed remix. What I mean is the original original 1974 vinyl LP mix, the one commonly available on bootlegs - the one that Martin Bartosik (among others) made a restoring of, to be clearer. It is different from the "Original 1974 stereo mix" as featured on disc 2 of the 2010 release: some parts of the original 1974 vinyl LP mix (including the nutcracker beat) were omitted from the 2010 release, in spite of the fact that most of this mix is actually the same as the vinyl mix (the tracks on the 2010 release were indeed taken from the vinyl album).
