Surfing like surfing I came across the music of Hartmut Zinn, a German Mike-alike multi-instrumentalist. He released a rare LP in 1982 called 'Heiles Land' at the age of 20, in the style of Mike's first four albums. 'Heiles Land' is a bit difficult to translate, but it means something like 'Perfect Country', possibly inspired by the title of Mike's cover of 'Wonderful Land'.

He recorded his work at home with a 4-track cassette tape recorder, so the record quality isn't excellent. Moreover, due to the loss of the original tapes that he never received back from the record company, stereo versions only exist on vinyl. Despite these shortcomings the melodies thrive!

Luckily an unused vinyl was found and carefully digitized by Lee Whitehead and remastered by Jan Flaška in 2019.

Here you can find the album as well as a (huge) download with lossless audio files as well as some bonus tracks of the time, that eventually didn't end on vinyl. Flaška even reworked the artwork and provided additional information about the artist and the recording. The album cover is a painting from Hartmut Zinn himself.

Many years later, in 2002 Hartmut Zinn released two more albums, 'Souvenir' and 'Tagträume' (Daydreams). Souvenir is also available as a lossless remastered download:

Hartmut Zinn himself is also active on YouTube and has a number of classic guitar recordings on his profile, but as far as I can tell there are no own compositions among them.

Now, what y'all think about these albums? And beware, never judge after just one listen. This is music like Mike's, so it may grow on you. ;)
