My copy of Guitars is faulty It will not rip to iTunes so I ended up getting it of the net. As far as I know its track 7- Four Winds 9:32 in length. And its the very start up to 1:33. Bravo! However, the guitars in your rendition do still sound clearer than on the original. A theory I have is that the Electronic Cymbal sounds used have a certain "brilliance" . Especially on the parts where I match the orchestration the wash out from the crashes may add to the impact of the Guitars. Just a theory . 320kbps mp3 converted to WAV then rendered back to 320kbps mp3 if that helps. Back to top

The mp3-to-WAV conversion did nothing to enhance the sound, as the compressed nature of an mp3 is preserved exactly the same in a WAV - you just made it bigger. However, if you made the original recording as a WAV file, that's another story - but then why was the original output file an mp3? When i've finished abusing the song it's rendered out as a Wav. I then convert back to Mp3 due to the Wav size and a crappy Internet speed . Also I've noticed when you play my files on 4shared they are a bit muffled much better to download and listen to in iTunes/WindowsMP. Just FYI   Back to top

Of course, if the output of your music software (by the way, the name Reaper conjures up in my mind a picture which has nothing to do with music recording, but of course it's just a name! ) is a WAV file, there would be no other reasons to compress it down to an mp3 than practical, bandwidth-related reasons, which I can perfectly understand. Why don't you import the Mike tracks into Reaper as WAV files? This way you wouldn't lose any sound quality before you start messing up the musical content of the track. I've already told you, I don't remember where, that the 4shared embedded player isn't great, so I always download the files from there - even if the silly website always makes me wait because I don't have an account there. I rarely use iTunes as a player, because it doesn't feature adjustable controls (such as EQ), while Winamp and WMP do, and I agree with you that they're much better. -------------- Ugo C. - a devoted Amarokian Back to top
