Easy: Send your avatar image to this place:

http://img180.exs.cx/

then link to it.

I propably did it the hard way but it worked.
When you have your pic at the site(I assume you got this far) there is a link named directlink(the lowest one) . I wrote that to the proper place on my control panel.
Im not sure about the dimensions but I just put random 68 and 100. It depends on what kinda pic you have I guess.
finally I just added it by clicking add on controlpanel.
Hope this helps.

I would love to have an avatar but fear that an awful mess might appear if I meddle with such things :O

And then - can't decide on exactly what kind of image I'd like either.Any of you artistic people out there got any ideas?
Now someone can have some fun can't they?! - don't worry I will not be offended

Did try to upload a picture I'd taken of Hergest Ridge, but still have a smurf as my avatar, after several attempts.  How do I link to my picture to get it uploaded :/  :O .please.

When youve got your AVATAR OK !!!  click on it
to check its size etc  80 x 80  60 x 100     etc etc
OK note that... then click on hiawatha Link....  Click
on   BROWSE...  find your avatar off this .... then
of the 4 options use the Bottom 1 .. well I did....
CAREFULLY write down whats in there ... then go
to your control panel  AVATAR download  and Type
this in to it.. If you get it right and submit it should work
also enter your sizes in   ie 80 x80    :D
