No votes for Mirage?

I really am surprised that Mirage has just one vote, and that Celt has more! Nothing against Celt, but I consider them pretty even.

QE2 for me, I like to think of it as Portsmouth/sailor's hornpipe extended  :)

Especially the end bit of the QE2 track is just so much fun :)
I've always had a great feeling about this lp.
Celt has one of the best guitar solo's ever (oooh, big talk!;)...

But I think I know why not many vote for Mirage; it's I think, because the live version on The Complete is 10 times better! That doesn't mean I don't like the album version of course!

Rock on, rockers

I was in doubt between Qe2 and Wonderful Land, but I ended voting Wonderful Land, because I love the acoustic guitar here.

Taurus I does little for me, really, I much prefer the second! If Molly was a few minutes longer, it would have at least one vote!  ;)

QE2 is fantabulous

I voted for Conflict, really like it's pace, the drums are superb, a bit of Bach ( I think) and that wonderful, wonderful shuddery bit near the end. It is quite perfect. Would like to see more of that sort of thing in the future. ;)

I had to say Conflict, but I'm a little surprised that Molly has no votes.

Conflict because it is such a compelling and chaotic composition, it is very exciting and yet such a sea-faring feel to it.

Taurus 1 is probably my second favourite track, because I love the way it builds up the music to the emotional finalé.

Molly is also another one of my favourite tracks, it's like a soothing little lullaby and is a perfect way to end the Album in my opinion.

2) Sheba
3) Wonderful Land
4) Taurus 1

I think the whole album suffers from the short-song format. The two longs tracks are the ones that really work, and I like Taurus I best. It has a tremendous "build up".

"Conflict" squeezes to much music into a tight suit. "Mirage" is really just Mike soloing over a chord sequence. I think all the little bits and pieces could have been arranged together to form two fantastic longs tracks.

Great stuff on this album, but Mike did better music before and after this album.

Arrival is catchy, Taurus 1 is the start of something really great, and the rest of the album is solid, but the best has to be QE2.  When that beat kicks in at 2:43 or thereabouts, it's impossible not to move in time to the beat, and then at the 4 minute mark, the song really just takes off.

Yes, that bouncy section in QE2 has to be one of the few genuinely happy moments in MO's music. Most of the rest have tinges of sadness in them somewhere.

Incidentally, whenever I read your name, Sunkenforest, I simultaneously think of "Flowers of the Forest" from Voyager and "Underwater Castle" from Tr3s Lunas II.

The title track always manages to lift my mood, no matter how low I have sunk.

After reading this, I listened to Molly out of the context of the rest of the album.  I did like it quite a bit, but I was left feeling slightly unfulfilled.  I feel like it could have benefited from a slightly more extended cut, or maybe a variation on theme.

I feel like I would like to hear a MO album in the vein of this song - a simple, creative, well-played collection of guitar lullabies.  It wouldn't be the most unique or memorable work of his, but I feel like it would be well-received... even if there would be a lot of initial complaining.
