Your favorite vocal perfomance from Mike on Heaven´s Open...

I love the song Heaven's Open, it is an amazing song full of happyness and power. I first heard it on the Elements disk, and if you had told me it was Mike singing I would not have believed you. OK, I have heard better, and his voice is only suited to certain songs (no soft ballads) but he is pretty good considering that he needed singing lessons before doing the album. My other favourite vocal is on No Dream, it's such an awesome song as well.

I like the title track a lot. It's amzaing to feel the power of Michael´s vocals while singing.Every time I hear it brings me a lot of good feelings about it.

I've got a video where Michael appears miming Heaven's Open on a german TV show(available on some Oldfield's fans FTP servers) and he did a great job while singing it.And also on the clip for the song.

I do like also Make Make,especially the chorus.When Michael's voice goes down a little bit...sheesh! ;)

Make Make, I guess. He sounds very powerful and angsty. In fact, I was surprised when I listened to this record. Judging by the comments it generally gets, I was expecting something far worse. Mike is a better singer than many others I know, and the songs are all good.

IMHO, Heaven's Open is far above the others, even if Make Make, No Dream and Mr Shame are quite good too  ;)

I've been listening to these songs recently and realised that No Dream comes real close. I like it when he twists and bends and reshapes his voice through the song. Gimme this instead of that Eddie Vedder any time of the year. :D

I agree. I just now voted "No Dream" and then read your description. I think it is the one he sounds "best as a vocalist" on.

Heaven's Open.  Sounds like he wants to make a real statement on this song.

Heaven's Open was the first album of Mike's I had. When I listened to it I found all quite strange at the beginning, yet I was amazed with No Dream and I used to listen to it time and time again. I could not stop until I really had to do something important (read: until I really had to study for another exam). I still love the song and the vocals are perfect.

I love the track heavens open, it always puts a smile on my face.  im a big fan of the slide esp. on a distorted guitar.  i dont think the other songs are very good however, music from the balcony has its moments but overall it is just too cheesy for words.

I just had a big change of opinion on "Heaven's Open" a few days ago. I now quite like all of the vocals.

No dream of course.
This song gives me the same creeps like Surfing do.
The guitar is sooo goood!

And about mike vocals; yes i like it, he got his own voice.
On No dream his voice is very dramatic and thats what i love best.
"UOOOOoor whooooOOO YOU  used to beee
COuld that somebody be meeeeeEEEEEE!!!!!???"

great!

I would have to listen to it again to choose, but I have always liked Heavens Open, and I really like Mikes voice, esp when he sings those power vocals, but he has a really bad lisp in that song, does anyone hear it in any of the other songs? I notice it more when I watch the film clip because his mouth contorts so much but it is very noticeable. And I loved his hair like that, so handsome, oooh.
