The folks at mikeoldfield.org are holding a Mike Oldfield fan convention in Reading (UK) on July 6th this year, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Tubular Bells.

The event will include performances by Terry Oldfield and Tubular Bells for Two, plus a merchandise sale, record and memorabilia fair and a Q&A with Terry.

Tickets are £40 GBP - a link to order them, plus more information, can be found on the event's web page.

Having seen Mike live multiple times and having seen the TB for 2 show twice I can safely say the latter is (almost) better. If you go along you'll see what I mean. Its an incredible show - funny, moving and musically brilliant.

You should check out this video of two people playing Amarok in its entirety, it can be done (if you're as talented as these guys)

Hi sorry I hadn't read the other thread and didn't realise that they would be playing so many instruments, I thought that they would be transcribing all of the parts to two instruments, that's quite a challenge!  :O

I transcribed Amarok and was up for a q and a style session on the day and allow people to look at the score but not heard much from the organisers.

@ThisName: I'd bring the transcription along anyway if I were you.
I'm pretty sure people are interested to see it, and questions could be answerd one one one too.
I wont be there though. Other obligations.....

Excellent suggestion Ryan - we'll add that to the list.

If anyone else has any suggestions they would be welcomed.

It's not a convention without cosplay. What are people going to dress up as?  ;)
