I received my copy from Amazon last week and have only just got around to watching it. I wanted no interruptions so I decided to wait! And was it worth the wait? Absolutely. I  enjoyed re-living the concert so much, but I have no words that adequately express how good it made me feel. It just confirmed everything I have always felt about the man and his music.
I was very young when I went to that concert but even then I knew how good it was, and to see it again twenty five years or so later and to have a more developed sense of what life is about (and music) made the experience a very special one. And as a member of the audience right at the back  of the venue, it was fantastic to now be able to see the musicians at work together. It must have been marvelous to be part of that unique musical adventure. Every one was really into the 'spirit' of the music.

It just seems to me that the more I listen to other music, to broaden my knowledge and enjoyment, the more I turn back to Mike Oldfield's music and think yes, that really does have all I need. Nothing else comes anywhere near. And yet I love all kinds ~ weird and wonderful, popular and strange and classical, but my feelings towards Mike's music are a different kind of love, a different kind of understanding. And the Exposed DVD sort of crystalised that in my mind. So I think it's brilliant!

One question, is Phil Beer any relation to Alice Beer? She was the interviewer of Mike a couple of years ago on the BBC show Heaven and Earth when they discussed spirituality and had a look at the MVR thing (or was it Tres Lunas). Probably not, just a coincidence.

Interesting review, Australopithicine, and welcome to the Board! :)

I often listen to the Inc section of Exposed (the CD) but very seldom to the TB part -- guess I need to go back and give it a spin. Your comment about Maddy and her backup singers is the straw that has broken the proverbial turtle's back (OK...wrong proverb) -- guess I'm going to have to order the thing and hope it runs on one of the computers (edited to say: not a problem--the Region 1 release date is imminent!! ) If there is any Craft going on, whoohoo....forget all the other reasons to order it, though I can think of a few .......  :p

p.s. (Edited to say.....just noticed similarity among topics--will probably merge -- but have to run for now.)

OK...topics merged--sending this as a bit of test message.

I always liked to give the exposed cd an occasional blast so i was really looking forward to the dvd version.
I think that considering its age the picture and particularly audio has stood up very well.
But what struck me about the performance was how(to use a Big Ron-ism)all the musicians/singers had to be at the "wide awake club" to come in at the precise time, for what was a complex piece of music.
It is a slight shame that they couldnt put on a surround mix,but overall i am just grateful that a piece of music history has been saved. I hope that it sells well.
I hope also that there are some other surprises lined up for us.

Fantastic, well spotted !! I thought they would have to push it back though...we've had a new double album and a couple of dvds in 12 months....not bad going!!
I understand that the Montreux series is fairly special so it should be well worth the wait.
Yes,also counting down to Pulse, but what about the debut Kraftwerk dvd ?
Excuse me while i nip to the toilet !!

Okay, thanks for that Tubular Man...didnt know about that.
Must be the down-side of the xmas market... too much stuff coming out at once, that it tends to get lost or un-noticed.

So I got the NTSC version and the 2.0 audio only comes through one channel (right side). I am going analog out (L-R) from the dvd player into my stereo receiver. All my other DVD's work fine this way.
Anybody know if there is a fault on the disc, or just a setting that I'm missing?

Nevermind. The audio seems to be ok now. Brilliant show. It's exciting to all the musicians playing together in such a unique musical setting. Mike seems scared.

I did not make the above posts. How did we get a fake Hiawatha?

Look at the unregistered Bee at the top too. I don't know if this is the real Bee or not, but it is kind of odd that this particular item includes unregistered versions of participants who are otherwise always registered.

It was just a slip with the permissions on this particular forum area. Quite what made someone decide to use the name Hiawatha, I can only guess at...

Anyway, it's fixed now.

Have just noticed the unregistered post from bee. And I can confirm it was definitely me, enthusing about the dvd!! Quite how I became unregistered at that point, I don't know, but nothing surprises me when I'm near computers. I guess it was just one of those strange little coincidences that occur in life.

And I still love the dvd, and those concerts, and that music, and the performance, and the man himself ofcourse, he's just great, and I've been on the sherry, it's Christmas and have just wobbled (cycled) back from work, and now plan to wrap presents! Life is wonderful!!!!!! :D

Tomorrow I shall probably regret saying all this, but today, well!......
