Hello all!

I recently bought the Elements box (it's about time), the reissued version to be specific. Well, I guess all the songs on there are digitally remastered just like the rest of the remaster collection of Virgin.

The problem is: the beginning of "William Tell Overture" has a really annoying scratch sound. I don't hear the scratch sound on the version on the "Complete Mike Oldfield" 2cd.

So, my question to the people who own this box: do you have the same problem? Something that went wrong during the remaster sessions at the studios? (I'm not suprised since Virgin screwed up more things of this particular collection...)

I listened to it, and yes, mine has got that too, at 0.01 second. It's not really disturbing, but yes, it's there. I have the old version of the Box, and I'm very very proud of it. It looks so cool
I'm hearing the Path now, one of the few Mike songs that made me cry  :)  Such beautiful sadness...

I have the 1993 remastered version and hadn't noticed (until now) that the beginning of the WTO indeed sounds (to my ears) like the snap, crackle, pop of vinyl.

Mmm..."The Path" is lovely.

Ok thanks! So now I know it's not only my version! :)

*ponders a little bit after reading all this, then reaches for his old edition of Elements - the one in the plastic box... puts on CD 2 ... track no. 3...*

CLICK :D

Oh my Gosh. :D

Useless to say, I never ever noticed this. I always played WTO from The Complete, of which I have 3 copies... the version on Elements always seemed to me an unnecessary addition and, of course, I always skipped it while listening to that CD... :)

My "Elements Box" also has a scratching sound but it is on "In Dulci Jublio".
