The following links and message were posted on the Amarok mailing list by David Reid. It features music from the game that was not released on the album:

You can download wonderful excerpts from MVR that a Frenchman (Franck Pauly)
grabbed and mixed... Delightful....

I hope some of these songs make it to the 2nd cd release. Especially the Owl sequence!

Now that I've downloaded them all i have to say, WOW! It reminds me a lot of the feel of Tubular Bells II, which is a very good thing. Anyone who thinks Mike has somehow 'lost it' should listen to these - and hopefully, as Tres Lunas is doing very well in Europe, Mike will decide to release more music on a second album to accompany the game!

And thanks to David Reid and Franck Pauly for all this - I had nothing to do with it!

Oliver

...and the ending of Swords Game is from the old download called Daliphant. Is that actually in the game somewhere, or is it just part of the mix?

I have all of the old files on a CD-R. If anyone's interested, please get me (Ugo1970) on IRC's #mike_oldfield or mail me privately.

ive made cd friendly versions of all the music on Music VR that isnt already on the Tr3s Lunas album. made it as a kind of second album. even if MO does make a second album with these tunes, so what. i couldnt wait lol.

ive mixed them myself. i took tunes that were similar to other tunes and put them together (ie - the space theme and the piano game tune) and extended some. they flow pretty well.

i cant send more than 1.5 megs thru my email tho and i have no where to upload them. if anyones interested maybe someone could prepare an FTP site or somethn? ill look around anyway tho..

heres the track list:

1 - The Earth Spirit (Canyon Themes)
2 - Spirit Dance (With the tai chi dude under the stonehenge)
3 - Snow Cavern Flight
4 - Redwings
5 - Sprites (Sprite Game)
6 - Solar System (Planets game and piano game)
7 - Reqiuem of the Sky (Pre-horses theme with the choir)
8 - Moonlight Stroll (morphing baby doing tai chi and journey into the volcano on the ufo)
9 - Lunar Jam (moon game)
10 - Joy Ride (Ants and Bats themes)
11 - Thou Art In Heaven II (the horses theme with the cool drums!)
12 - The Origin (collection of themes using the origin theme ie - dolphins, seagull trip (kind of close), flying rose from demo, both vipers (kinda close to seagull trip), mountain lake, etc)
13 - The Journey (collection of world themes and game themes)
14 - Landing (not in the game but its a kool tune from the old mp3s)
15 - Underwater Castle
16 - Butterflies
17 - Rebirth Tunnel (the song everyones frantically searching for in MVR!)

all are mp3s encoded at 44 khz and 256 kbps. altogether all the songs are 59:06 long.

MusicallyInspired's mix is now available for download from

http://www.connceptual.com/mo

You'll need to use a username/password combination of amarok/amarok to actually download any files marked as coming from ConnCeptual and there's a restricted number of concurrent connections, but if it fails once try again, its really worth it.

I'm working to get as many of the mirrored versions linked up so that if one fails you can switch to another.

The music is fantastic and he's done an amazing job on the mix.

FirstStepsRealPiano was also called CalderaPiano.

The question still stands: how do you get the ending music?

You can find the Landing tune by shooting at the gold ring on the top of the stonehenge instead of at the merbaby. The seagull then takes you to Turtle Island but with Landing playing.

(Found by "freshh" in another thread.)

P.S. Oh, and great mixes by the way. Many thanks.

You're quite right, Landing and Landfall are different tracks. My mistake.

I've just burned an audio-CD and listened to the music on my hi-fi in a darkened room. Wow!!! The details in the music really come to life without the distraction of images on a PC (and I love the game). Brandon Blume has done a very fine job. I recommend that all MO fans download these files.

It's also abundantly clear that Mike has more talent in his little finger than some artists have shown in an entire career. Take tonight's Top of the Pops for example; talk about sublime to the ridiculous!
