Mike's going to be having a Skype chat with Torsten Stenzel soon, and Torsten wants to know if you have any questions for Mike!

Leave your question here on the forum or on Facebook and we'll make sure that Torsten gets them.

Update: The deadline for questions is this Monday, November 26, so make sure you've got yours in by then if you want to make sure Torsten gets it!

-Has Mike started working on the next Deluxe reissues? When will they be released?
-Has Mike an opinion in the 'CD Vs Vinyl' war?
-Is he in touch with artists he collaborated with? Jon Anderson, Simon Philipps, Maggie Reilly, Barry Palmer,...

Thanks !!

Any chance we will see any of your albums in the DSD File format, especially the 5.1 materials?

I've got 4 questions:
1. Is there any possibility to ask Sting for doing vocals on new album?
2. Which amplification was used to create the distortion lead sound on live concerts during Then&Now Tour (or it was running through e.g gt-6 BOSS)?
3. Will you work on a longer and more progressive track for new album?
4. What about tour around Europe? Could it be possible to hear Amarok and Hergest Ridge excerpts live?

What kinds of strings do you like to use on your guitars?
Do you use alternate tunings on your guitars?
What guitar solo are you the most proud of on your studio recordings?
Would you consider living in the USA and if so, where?

1)Many electronic music artists like York are influenced by your music. How did the idea for the Tubular Beats album first come up and how current electronic music has influenced on the track list?

2)A while ago there have been an website called "Stenzel and Oldfield" regarding a future collaboration regarding soundtracks. Any plans for the upcoming future related to this project?

Mike has been involved with some charitive goals in the past, and had one with Tonic himself. Given Caroline Monks association with breast cancer, is there any room in the future for such things ? I'm asking this because my daughter (her name is Reena, hence my nickname here... ;-))was diagnosed with Kabuki Syndrome several years ago. As this is still a very rare and to many people in the world an unknown syndrome, the parents and organizations that have to deal with the syndrome, have difficulties raising money for research, social activities and treatment and so on. Like Kabuki-Syndrome there are probably loads of other health-issues that don't really get the attention they need and deserve. Maybe this is something for Mike to get the world's attention for ? At the risk of sounding bold here, but I don't intend to be so.

Would you consider creating another film soundtrack (as you suggested in Changeling)?  I'm a fan of your Killing Fields score (and your other work too).

As the writer-director of forthcoming British film  Sparks and Embers I have a vested interest in the answer, for a future project.

Oh but he's never going to get to France.

...

;)

I'd like to know:

1. How did the collaboration with York actually happen? For someone like Mr Oldfield it seems a truly random one. Who approached whom, when and how?

2. Will the new album be to any extent similar to Earth Moving?

3. I would guess that Mike doesn't have to make music for money ever again (which is a good thing) -- and I don't think he ever wanted to be top of the charts. After almost 40 years, what is the motivation then?

Wouldn't mind concerts either myself :)

1 -A life in teh sun, no smoking bans, technology that means he can have the best studio wherever he wants - what toys/gadgets/gizmos can he possibly desire?

2 - Now that he's starting to embrace social media (perhaps thanks to Caroline Monks input) how can he integrate this into his music? There are a few artistes producing apps, interactive albums etc.

3 - The MVR games had a few demo's released - how about a few glimpses of the new album?

The answer is 42 - but what is the question?

It's not a question, more a suggestion I would have him to consider or at least, just know a fan want this:

It would be very great if he could finally release an ultimate CD box containing all non-album tracks he ever recorded; songs that were included on a single, collaborations with other artists, etc.

All of them remastered would be even greater.

List of songs we could find in this box:

1. William Tell Overture
2. Cuckoo Song
3. In Dulci Jubilo
4. Portsmouth
5. Jungle Gardenia
6. Guilty
7. Blue Peter
8. Waldberg (the peak)
9. Mistake
10. Crime of Passion
11. Pictures in the Dark
12. Shine
13. Song for survival
14. Cook's Tune
15. Aleluya
16. Excalibur
17. Lakme (fruity loop)
18. Pres de Toi
19. X-Files Theme
20. Don Alfonso (german and english versions)
21. Vivaldi concerto in C
22. The song of the boat men
23. Bones
24. Froggy went a courting
25. In the Pool
26. Ode to joy
27. Afghan
28. Day of the percheron
29. Legend
30. Mike's Reel
31. The Spectral Army
32. The Rio Grande
33. The Phaeacian Games
34. Pipe Tune
35. Argiers
36. The Path
37. Indian Lake
38. Polka
39. Rite of Man
40. Drunk Hornpipe
41. Early Stages (of tubular bells 2)
42. Music for the video Wall
43. The Trap
44. False start
45. Wrekorder Wrondo
46. Silent Night
47. Darkroom (from the killing fields)
48. Royal Wedding Anthem

Thanks for this opportunity!

I'd like to ask if he has ever considered having Mark Knopfler on his album? as he clearly is a fan of Mark, having mentioned him a few times over the years.

Also has he learned to play any new instruments over the last few years?

Has he ever considered re recording another early work like Tubular Bells 2003 ?

Also was he aware Musicians/Members from here created a Tribute album and website for his 58th Birthday and released it online and Facebook generating 5000 views in the first week and literally thousands of plays collectively ?

Cheers.
