OK I've just received the Ultimate Edition. First off the the package is superb. Gatefold sleeve LP, high quality hardback book, a lovely tranparent envelope with the concet ticket, Manor music recording tracks facimile and the Manor brochure.

The downside: MO Single is indeed only 3'56", and the 1973 rough mix difference is quite subtle.

The quality of the audio I've heard is superb, though. The set does indeed contain the poster. The Viv Stanshall hornpipe is is different and edited at the end too .. The Whistle Test video is stated to appear on the DVD disc, but as yet, I can't see it.

See the set in all it's glory below:

TB Ultimate Edition Package

Bear in mind, this is a hot-off-the-presses initial impression.  :)

How did you get it so soon? Through the ebay or the signed edition? Amazon still didn't ship mine.

Told you about the poster! ;)

I had it pre-ordered in my local HMV here in Limerick. Ireland generally get releases on Fridays, and they notified me by phone they had the package waiting for me late Thursday night. They sold 3 of the Ultimate Edition so far.

BTW at £65-75 Sterling (ca. €80), it's just about worth it.  :)

The benefits of the high street shop - more expensive, but no waiting for post.  :)

Ive only got the  "Collection"  Issue  pretty good value for £9.

I played TB1 side 1 & 2   last not expecting to much..  But was pleasantly surprised...    It says remixed for Stereo on the Box..  The whole thing sounds slightly Fresher than my Virgin Issue...   Side two just before the Caveman Some nice Percussion is included.. And it sort of rocks along quite nicely from here..  Can Hear subtle things much clearer overall ... Really enjoying the "Single" as well..    Great piece ..  Just wish it would go on Longer.. But it is a Single Afterall.. Its 1st time Ive played TB1 this Year.. You know Im all enthusiastic over it again now..

So what happened to the Old Grey Whistle Test film?
I can't see it on the DVD menu. Perhaps it's an easter egg?

There is one thing that suprised me about the box-set is how much I like the Demos from 1972, I think I have listened more to them than anything else in the set so far, very good considering how they were recorded, plus hearing Piltdown Man/Caveman with just the music makes me appreciate the normal version I can here the bass a lot more now - which I never really noticed before.

I think so,since one member has commented somewhere about parts of the demo that appeared only on...Amarok.

Yes. But sounding nicer. :) How did Mike manage to make a 36-year-old analogue tape sounding nicer than when it was recorded is a mystery, but he did. :)

Oh you meant a "single" edition with TB part 1 + 2 plus mike oldfield's single etc. But that's already out here in Europe for quite some time.

I thought you meant a cd single! ;)
