I have been reading all my missed posts from last 2 weeks but cant actually see where you can download Cook's Tune. Is it another bonus track from L & S and if so which version..i have the uk edition with Lakme etc.
How did we first come across it.
Love to know more,
Thanks

You can only get it if you purchase the mp3 version of the album online. I don't have the link right off hand.

From what ive Heard its nothing like the rest of L&S ie
Old school.... So what about the rest of Us !!!?  I would
like a CD quality version.. Hope it wont be long before its
released on a single B side or similar  :D

I must say I find this kind of marketing ploy infuriating.

When I first heard that there was another track, I was sure that it would be a 'B side' to Surfing or another single, just wait for the single Alan  ;)

Hmmm... well I made Light and Shade my first ever Internet-only album purchase from iTunes, and no Cook's Tune on there!

Anyone care to help me out finding it?

Cheers

James

As marketing ploys go, it ranks up there with "placed in file cabinet in locked room in basement. Sign on door: Beware of Leopard".

Having the cook track only available on a site in a language only known by a minority of Oldfield fans, with an online payment scheme that does not work, is not the best way to try to sell something.

RE: Beware of the Leopard - gotta love the hitchhikers' quotes :)

RE: Payment method... well, that's not the biggest beef for me. They insist I download a DRM'ed MP3!!! I mean for god's sake! I want to play it in WINAMP!! NOT MEDIA PLAYER!!!

AARRRGGH!!!

Is there actually such a thing as a DRM'ed MP3? I did not think it was technically possible (just as a DRM'ed .txt file is not possible in the Windoes world).

I can't, I'm in university halls and they block P2P. Apparently so RE the DRM'ed MP3 - they ask for my Media Player to be updated to a DRM manager version.  :(

But how would you feed it? Where would you keep it?

You have to think these things through, Alan.

For those of you who want it, you can download Cook's Tune on its own, for 99 (euro) cents here.

That's the one I was talking about. They require me to individualise my Media Player, something which I am not prepared to do. I won't even listen to the file in MP, I use Winamp.

Thanks Richard - though when I click on that link, I just get a blank page.

However, I don't think I'd be prepared to despangulate my media player either - whatever that means.

"despangulate (noun). To remove from one's Media Player the ability to play songs sung in Spanish. Example: `Since I despangulated my computer, one-third of my Ricky Martin MP3 files will not play at all anymore, and `Don Alfonso` now has skips in it.`"
