Just a thought, but is Mike's 'once in a lifetime' project anything to do with the Olympics? He does seem to feature on a couple of virgin adverts just now, who are a massive olympic sponsor?? just a thought!

Doubt it. Underworld are doing the official music for the Olympics. I also know that the Chemical Brothers are doing the sound track to the GB cycling teams promo film.

Yeah, no more Tubular Bells albums and/or references please!  There comes a time when you have to move on from your first hit.  It has been almost forty years.  It's more than time!

A Google-search hereabouts for Mike Oldfield Olympics brings us this rather curious page of nothing as the number one result.

Has someone blindly speculated that he will be involved, and a news site randomly generated itself?

Interesting, when you 'google' Mike Oldfield Olympics 2012, yes it does bring up that link, coupled with the word Deeside. Now knowing Mikes liking for the spectacular (Edinburgh Castle, Horseguards Parade) Are we heading for another spectacular concert venue? Isnt Balmoral Castle in Deeside??  :)

I do remember I've come across anything related to the Olympic Games and MO,but without many hints.

2013 will be the 40th anniversary of tubular bells, it is the greatest part of his canon of work

I don't think it's close to the greatest part of his canon. It's the first and the biggest-selling, but far from the greatest. I would much prefer he left it alone now - I don't need another TB album, I don't want more concerts devoted to TB either.

I seriously doubt "Project of a Lifetime" would be a World Tour or another rehash of TB.....Opera forget it.

My guess is his best mate is building an Orbiter... How about the first musician ever to play live in space...

Another first for Mike and qualifies as a project of a lifetime wouldn't you all say...

I would say not 100% official. They appear to be quoting the sources already linked to in this thread.

But they do usually wait on reporting rumours until they are "given the nod"  :D

Ok, thanks
Maybe I am silly, but is (for example) Tubular Bells Edited the first, the remastered (1998) or the 2009 version?

I am lost....

:D
