and cascading the albums into subforums.

I think having one separate forum for each album, as it is now, should be preserved.

It emphases the separate importance of each work.

I agree with Hiawatha. The Floyd forum doesn't have it, and it's one big mess...
I love the way this forum is built up

I don't feel as strongly about preserving the other forums the way they are as I do about the actual album ones, even though I do think the other ones are set up OK too.

very true stefan  ;)
it is a totally mess, because you loose the control when so many writes in there.
They have 6500 members!!
And there is a lot of Pink Floyd albums too..
Sa problem on the Enigma forum. Im almost not there because of that mess.
But one thing is good with the Floyd forum!!
the download sections with rare and bootlegs  :D

Actually the suggestion was not to remove the album forums, but to put them into subforums.  You can see this in action by looking at the Compilations forum.  There is only one item on the board index, but when clicked, it opens several additional forums.  The reason for this is to reduce the number of forums that are visible when you visit the board index, and to reduce scrolling, but without actually removing any forums.

If you'd rather not have an extra click, I also suggested adding a drop down list to the top or bottom of the page that would allow you to go to any forum in a single click, regardless of whether it's a subforum or not.  This might even make the current navigation a lot quicker.  I don't know how much can be done with ikonboard but I'd imagine this can be done.  I am not certain though.

I can see there are a few comments to request that some of the forums stay the same.  Alan and Inkanta both want to keep Other Artists; Inkanta and the other admins would like to keep Meet & Greet.  Ray wants to keep Tubular Tech.

But this still leaves the following changes:

Remove the Ads forum
Remove or combine Polls and Opinions, and Q&A
Combine the following forums into a new forum called "Concerts and DVDs":
- Rarities & Concerts
- Berlin 2000
- Elements
- Exposed
- Live at Montreux
- Miscellaneous

Change / combine the Gallery forums and have a Flickr group instead, or a gallery script on the web site, or...?

Thanks again for your suggestions, everyone! This is a very busy time, but soon I hope to engage with the other admins in an in-depth review of your suggestions and get going on things.

Ray--thanks so much for mentioning the search feature! As I say every other post (OK....a *bit* of an exaggeration there, ha ha) ) it's not perfect but it is something. :)

Hm...my point in this was this... Yes there are other forums, but on other forums are other people! Now,here are the people thet i like to talk, and i thought thet mabe here we put a new threed where we all can talk about other things...It woud be stupied thet i start saying:"Ey come on this forum we can talk there!" i mean...i dont use any other forums...I only talk on this one...So the all point is,not to delete anything, not to change anything, just put a new thred where we all can talk... Thets all

Well, I'm just getting used to the changes...

IMHO the new collapsed front page is a lot better - and I am glad to see the Mike Oldfield forums at the top!

But I think we need a forum quick jump menu so you can get to any forum from any page.  I'd be happy to help if you need someone to do it...

Edit: looks like there already is one... Bravo! :D

Can I just check, Inkanta, that the changes are still 'in progress' and that the MusicVR section is missing only because it hasn't been dealt with yet?

Alan, I found some missing forums in the forum quick jump menu:

Maestro - http://tubular.net/forums....SC;c=10
Tres Lunas - http://tubular.net/forums....=SC;c=9

Along with those "ghost forums", there are a couple of duplicate items in the menu, so something might need to be fixed...

Thanks for your vigilance and for your patience. Please continue to let us know when you come across the bugaboos. Some of us are on the road in the next few days, but we'll do our best to remedy them in good time!  :)

Maestro is back. The Forum Jump box still has some issues with categories, probably bugs in Ikonboard. And, I forgot to mention there is a gallery script since a while: http://tubular.net/gallery/

Just thinking about the organisation of this, Olivier ... are you thinking of putting two separate 'Maestro' and 'Tr3s Lunas' links in that 'Discussion' section? Or are you going to have a single 'Music VR' section which, when clicked on, leads to the two games?

And also ... logically, would it be more appropriate to include 'Music VR' in the section on 'Mike Oldfield's Works', rather than under 'discussion'?

Just noticed this topic,  I'd like the albums to have their own section as they do now. I'd also like to keep the Other Artists thread as I've been introduced to many other artists, some Mike related , some not  .
I know Baggiesfaninessex's  "What are you playing this very second" thread has come in for some stick, but it's interesting to see who else us Mike fans listen too. Admittedly if it just becomes a song/artist list, it could get a bit boring, so I try to include a web link, or some background to the artist/group, like my recent write up on the Edgar Broughton Band, also Mike related, Steve Broughton played drums on Tubular Bells Part 2, and Mike played mandolin on  EBB's "Thinking Of You" , and also on a track on their "Bandages" album. Been advised by another EBB fan on Myspace that Bandages has recently been reissued
 :) .
BTW just wondering where Korgscrew has been as I don't think he's been on for a while AFAIK.
