It's been really good looking at the best dance tracks, and what everyone is listening to currently, so how about just videos? I loved the one of Christopher Walken in the Fat boy Slim video in the other thread and it got me thinking....some videos do stand out in your mind. Here's my current favourite....

superb!

this is just brilliant, and i really want one of these cars, totally influenced by the ad! How bad is that!!! ( should have been Marilyn Manson doing the music though but I suppose that could have had a couple of negative connotations?!!

Other good ones are the Guinness ads, (ofcourse) running out of time this morning but will post them later if I can find them.

Perfect Day
I've always liked the video the BBC did for their promo/charity version of Perfect Day. The garden through the different times of the day, the different visual styles for each artist. "It's such fun" always makes me laugh :D

Some of my all-time favorites have been already quoted here. I'll add three videos which used to scare me when I was a kid, now I absolutely love them. There isn't a "best video ever" for me... the "King of Pop" Michael Jackson came close to that several times with his highly theatrical, filmic videos ("Thriller", "Bad", "Black or White"), but IMHO there isn't a single video (not even by Jacko) which tops all the others. Anyway...

Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight

Peter Gabriel - Shock the Monkey

Mike Oldfield - Pictures in the Dark

and of course... THE Michael Jackson video...

Michael Jackson - Thriller

I always thought "In the Air Tonight" would make a good commercial for insect repellent. It actually sounds like insects being thumped!

I loved that Peter Gabriel song ~ shock the monkey, I just really like his style...made me remember the Big Time as well...he was way ahead of his time then.

peter gabriel

Lene Lovitch, had totally forgotten her! so was really good to see that again!

...and oooooo, Herbie Hancock's "Rock It" is just weird, made me feel very uncomfortable, but I have got a bit of a thing about mannequins, they give me the creeps...always have...so to see them dismembered was distrubing to say the least.

good to see a random collection of videos...

:)

Milamber and Nightspore might enjoy having one of these for their heatwave. :D

Love the Kate Bush video, not seen that in years. I knew Kate when we were teenagers in Welling....she was quite shy believe it or not.

Hastengas - I can believe it - that she was shy. How well did you know her?

I recently bought her new biography - "Under the Ivy" by Graeme Thomson. I 've only just started it - but beautifully written.

A video I posted last year I think and you've all probably seen already but might as well add here if we are making a collection - still impresses me just as much as the first time I watched it :O

I recently bought her new biography - "Under the Ivy" by Graeme Thomson. I 've only just started it - but beautifully written.

Just to chat to...her fathers house (he was a Dr) backed onto a yard I worked in as a teenager (the aptly named Bin Away). I heard someone humming one day and I climbed up onto the fence and there was this startling looking girl humming away....I startled her but she said hello, what are you doing? and it went from there, was very casual, I seem to remember a white rabbit too. A few years later I bumped into her in Catford coming out of a studio and we exhanged pleasantries...she had done some demos and said she was hoping to break into the charts at some point....I happened to know the bloke who owned this little studio, so it was pure coincidence...and was the last time I saw her until she came onto Top of the Pops with Wuthering Heights....I was really thrilled for her. And its a very small claim to fame, she was lovely.

Hello, Matt.  The finder of this particular Holy Grail expresses a similar opinion.

I'm off to find the Bruces' Philosophers Song...

@ Cavalier: Here it is! Here it is I don't think the Pythons ever made a proper "video" for this - apart from the Hollywood Bowl performance, which is great.

@ Matt: the Irn Bru ad is indeed very humourous - the way the song starts evokes a certain mood, but then the lyrics say something completely different. :D The imagery reminds me of a Queen video, I'm not telling you which one, you may surely guess it as some of the drawings are nearly identical. BTW, what kind of drink is Irn Bru? Beer? Or something like Red Bull? :)
