although this question was adressed to korgie.....

well, many of the DALnet-servers are down since months.
u may have luck using: acool-e.ga.us.dal.net  as server, at least it worked fine in the last weeks. if even this breaks down, some of us have found out that efnet seems to work better these days....

Here are some 5 well working efnet servers (U.S. & european):

efnet.vuurwerk.nl
irc.isdnet.fr
irc.qeast.net
irc.efnet.pl
irc.easynews.com

if u need some more, lemme know...
;)

But as long as the acool-thingie or
misc-e.dal.net

works, the guys will be on DALnet.

Sorry, this is slightly OT, but how do I get on that channel? I'm not much of a tech head and I've got no idea. I've got mIRC, can I use that? Thanks.

Apologies for my ignorance, but what is this all about? Is it some form of chat site type thing for Mike Oldfield? I looked in the FAQ but couldn't find any reference to anything. Again sorry for my lack of knowledge about this!!!

@ MITR: yes, it's some kind of "chat-site" (channel) where people who like to listen to M.O. meet regulary.
I'd recommend to use an IRC-software like MIRC.
http://www.mirc.co.uk/irc.html

The "meetings" take place on DALnet, so make sure that u connect to one of the DALnet servers which are listed in the pre-sets of the prog.
The channel is #mike_oldfield , best time to find people in there is @ about midnight CET.

@ Holger: ja, Du kannst MIRC dafür benutzen.
:)
Eine kleine Hilfe dazu gibt es beispielsweise auf
