what is your favourite word in english ?, not for its meaning but only for its sonority

mine is "between"

I don't know why. My mother language is French and for the first time I heard it, it's a word that I like.

There have been studies as to the word most people find beautiful in English. It turns out to be "chime".

5 words would be nice - "you are the lottery winner"

The answer is 42 - but what is the question?

It's not one word, but..monosodium glutamate...

Monosodium glutamate, also known as sodium glutamate and MSG, is a sodium salt of the non-essential amino acid glutamic acid. It is used as a food additive and is commonly marketed as a flavour enhancer. It has the HS code 29224220 and the E number E621. Trade names of monosodium glutamate include Ajinomoto, Vetsin, and Accent.

Although traditional Asian cuisine uses flavour-enhancing ingredients which contain high concentrations of MSG, it was not isolated until 1907. MSG was subsequently patented by the Japanese Ajinomoto Corporation in 1909. In its pure form, it appears as a white crystalline powder; when dissolved in water (or saliva) it rapidly dissociates into sodium cations and glutamate anions (glutamate is the anionic form of glutamic acid, a naturally occurring amino acid).

I just love saying it!  And...I love chinese food!  MSG has gotten a bad rap!

Please pass the Szechuan Sauce!!
:D

Putty!

There's a story attachred to my choice but since it involves copious amounts of 'rare herbs' I shan't recount it here!

Indeed. It occurs naturally in some foods, such as tomatoes (and, I  believe, mushrooms).

I've always liked 'isthmus'. Certainly it's one of the most awkward words to pronounce.

Is that when a baby tries to say "christmas"?  :D

Everyone's interpretation is different, and everyone has a right to that opinion. There is no "right" one, I am adding this post to communicate my thoughts to share them with like-minded souls who will be able to comment in good nature.

How about "Branson". There's an interesting word. I brought that word up once before and it seemed to evoke quite an emotional response from some of you. Saw on the news today he's gonna take 5 people to "inner space", not even outer space. Just enough to be weightless for 5 minutes. Wonder who these 5 people are and how much they are paying. Every time I hear about him and the word "Virgin", I hear Tubular Bells(1). They call him Sir now. Why? What did RB do? Is England a utopia now because of him? Just curious.
