Korgscrew, could you please add a "top level" album-name discussion item for this one in the forum?

The name reminds me of two things: one is the cover art for Platinum, that features what I always thought was a pool of  mercury.

Second, there is already an album called "Quicksilver": the soundtrack to the Kevin Bacon film. This album featured such illuminaries as Fish (who has worked with Mike) and Tony Banks of Genesis. Definitely of "Prog" interest. "Shortcut to Somewhere" is a fantastic song.  (I don't see any problem with Mike using the name for his album at all, no chance of confusion)

And thirdly, there was a West Coast 60s band called Quicksilver Messenger Service.

And fourthly, one of the instrumentals on the Pink Floyd "More" soundtrack was called Quicksilver.

Quicksilver? Hmmm  Sounds like a material that might be used to make a certain bell when solidified???  Why not call the double disk Hemispheres.....

Like the Rush album? Counterparts would be a good name too :)

I made a comment in the announcement thread that the more enigmatic "Hg" would work too. Perhaps the next MVR project?

I'd love to see stuff like that:

Hybrid

Hybridized

since it's something that it's different and a combination of 2 different thingies regarding to each CD's theme,IMHO.

I can not say if Quicksilver is a good name for the album or not. I strongly think that the name of an album depends on the content of it.
One proposal could be putting "Quicksilver", as Mike has done in the past, in other language than English (Tres Lunas, Ommadawn, Amarok).

For exemple: Quicksilver is Azogue in Spanish, Vil-Argent in French, Argent viu in Catalan,... Only a suggestion  :D

How about using the name for Mercury in other languages:

French - Mercure
Spanish & Italian - Mercurio
German - Quecksilber
Dutch - Kwik

Quicksilver= "¿ywe srebro" or "rtêæ" in Polish ;) [zywe srebro, rtec]
Mercury= "rtêæ" ("rtêæ" [rtec] is one of the elements), and "Merkury" which is one of the planets of course.
who has the weirdest language? :D  ;)
Mike likes chemistry? ;)

I hope the name will be different than QS. QS brings "DJ Quicksilver" on my mind and that's bad :/

P.S.
that funny letters you see are the charm of polish language you doesn't see them as they are in real.

Hmmmm, I'd like "Hg" achowally.

By the way, "Tubular Bells" in Polish will be "Dzwony rurowe". Dzwon = bell, tube = rura. :) CzeϾ Ostach.
