Yeah, some dutch webstores, bol.com and nlstore.com, are both claiming that the DVD will be released on February 26th.

The Space Movie - bol.com

The Space Movie - nlstore.nl

Funny thing is they both list it under the Mike Oldfield artist name, while Tony Palmer the director is. But I can't hardly wait! :)

Tony Palmer said to me it will be available in early March. So the release date sounds about right. There will be more on the DVD than the old VHS release.

A little snippet of my interview with Tony Palmer is now on the Dark Star website. The rest will be in the next magazine.

Anyone has more info about the only-Space-Movie-lyrics that can be heard? Somewhere in my brain I have the memory of it being a poem (not Hiawathat nor Ode to Cynthia)...

I've found the information I was looking for, I put here also for people interested in these things:

"Incantations (unused section)
There is an out-take from Incantations Part Four (the piece that developed from Making Way in Reflection video) featuring vocals not present on the final record, with lyrics taken from A Spell For Creation by Kathleen Raine. This out-take was included on the soundtrack of The Space Movie. The track as heard in the film has been edited, so the following lines are absent:
Oh love, my love, there springs a world
And on the world there shines a sun
And in the sun there burns a fire
Within the fire consumes my heart..."
(From Amarok mailing list website)
Well, if I'm understanding it correctly, these are the absent verses, so I have only half the information: I know the autor, it's confirmed that it's a poem, but we only know the absent verses, not the present ones...
My english it's not good enough to listen to the song and transcribe it...
My investigation continues, any help is more than welcomed!

Edit:
I've found the whole poem:

Spell of Creation by Kathleen Raine

Within the flower there lies a seed,
Within the seed there springs a tree,
Within the tree there spreads a wood.

In the wood there burns a fire,
And in the fire there melts a stone,
Within the stone a ring of iron.

Within the ring there lies an O,
Within the O there looks an eye,
In the eye there swims a sea.

And in that sea reflected sky,
And in the sky there shines the sun,
Within the sun a bird of gold.

Within the bird there beats a heart,
And from the heart there flows a song,
And in that song there sings a word.

In the word there speaks a world,
A word of joy, a world of grief,
From joy and grief there springs my love.

Oh love, my love, there springs a world,
And on the world there shines a sun,
And in the sun there burns a fire,

Within the fire consumes my heart
And in my heart there beats a bird,
And in the bird there wakes an eye,

Within the eye, earth, sea and sky,
Earth, sky and sea within an O
Lie like the seed within the flower.

Ok, now I have to check is the whole poem (except the missing verses) is sung.

i have now seen abit of it on my dvd player and i must say the quality sucks.. But from what year is this movie really?
I thought it would be better then we have seen on the elements DVD. But ok, i know it now..  :/
The price is also abit expensive when the quality is not perfect either..
But the music is nice and i will have a better look on it soon..
it is a thing to collect just because i love MO's music..

The film has been produced in 1979.

Remember that the NASA footage has been filmed during the sixties and early seventies, so the quality cannot keep up with more actual material.

Does anyone who already owns the DVD know whether the spoken narration can be turned "off" leaving just the music soundtrack?

Sorry to tell you that the narration cannot be extracted from the music for they are fit together on one audio track.
