Just another excuse for Virgin Records to cash in on Mike's waning popularity and cut down sales for the Warner bell recordings.

The whole albums a wank basically.

Nearly all of the selections are from the Virgin official release recordings.

The Warner Bell recordings are shrugged off rather perfunctorily. There are no demo-versions, live versions (other than "Exposed" excerpts), no B Side single rearrangements (like "Mike Oldfield's Single" or "Early Stages"), no rearrangements by other artists (like Mark Snow's excellent "Tubular X" or Duo Sarne's classical guitar arrangement).

Do yourself a favour, get the real Bell recordings and forget this nightmare.

i don't own this album but i thought that i should point out that Tubular X is not a rearrangement by Mark Snow, it is an arrangement by Mike combining the x-files theme and tubular bells theme, the only input snow had is his work that Mike sampled for the track...sorry to be picky!...

i am really pissed off with the amount of mike oldfield compilation albums!, we can put together a better tubular hits cd ourselves.  what about a compilation of all the albums he has done on warner.

I'm not 100% sure but I seem to recall having read somewhere that this was after all arranged by Mark Snow, and he then asked Mike to perform it.

After the bell has cracked, we can rename it as the Best of Liberty Bells.
