I've now seen the Elements DVD for sale on different dutch internet shops. They all say release on 29 november!

Well, at least one person on the Amarok mailing list has seen it, so it must be available somewhere. Strange, as amazon.co.uk says the 29th November as the release. I am so glad that this is actually coming out.

how was the reaction of the person on the Amarok mailing list who had seen it? Good quality DVD? Region code 2? Does it contain the whole of Wind Chimes etc?

I'm afraid I deleted the e-mail and I can't quite remember  :/
It certainly wasn't a bad review, but I can't remember any details (yes, I know that's terrible of me as I only read it yesterday... )

Prehaps another mailing list member can help me out here. I'm still wondering how he managed to get it so early. By the way: I can't find any indication that it will be released in Australia any time soon. It looks like I'll just have to order it from overseas.

I hope Marcus Junglas doesn't mind I quote him here. :)

"Hi,

today I've seen the Elements DVD for the first time and I've to say it's
worth every little cent!
I don't actually know why someone at a record company SUDDENLY puts work
(!;) in any release of Mike, but on the other hand it's Virgin, not Warner.
Someone did put work on it, it's a clean and well made DVD!

The image quality is VERY good, even on the old videos.
Sound quality is also very good, except for the Space Movie excerpt, which
isn't perfect, but still good.

All videos are without speech or something disturbing as they were on the
old Elements video. The later is still present as "Interview" including all
the videos again with speech on it as we know from the past.

The menues have a modern look, which means that the text is nearly
unreadable small. It might become really unreadable on not optimal
conditions like Composite Video connection instead of S-Video or RGB.

There is no real surprise regarding the videos as I already had all of them
on VHS except the "Don Alfonso" video. I was curious about that and... it
DAMN FUNNY! Pure slapstick comedy.
It was made in a really really cheap and bad way, planned of course, so
it's pure fun.
It's close to a Benny Hill sketch I like: he tried to sing an opera and
acts accordingly on a theatrical stage and actually nothing works as he
wanted while he still tried to look relaxed. This comes quite close.

The whole thing a nice treasure box with a nice collection of the (Virgin
time) videos in their best quality ever - nothing more, but nothing less.

I'd rate it 9 of 10 points on my first impression.

Bye

wow great! Good to hear about that Don Alfonso video clip! Strange that we never heard about the excistence of that particular clip. Perhaps Virgin never released it, until now?

A full review of the DVD, with a good quality scan of the slleve is now available on the www.mikeoldfield.org website.

So it's official then !!

The review is excellent, and the only omission seems to be then non-animated version of the 'Innocent' promo.

Roll on Monday  :)

As I posted in the other thread, there is a lovely full page colour advert in the latest issue - No. 305 - of 'Record Collector' magazine and a small piece in the preceeding page about the 'Elements' DVD release.
