Better yet, don't buy it!! Sorry to sound patronizing, but I am kind of surprised that anyone who has all the Tubular Bells albums would buy it.

Well.... if you thought Mike himself was trying an experiment, selecting tracks in a thoughtful way to make a new composite whole, then you might buy it. But if you thought it was just a piece of marketing, then.... I guess you wouldn't.

I assumed the latter, and don't have it. Did Mike have in fact anything to do with it?

Mike did do some interviews to promote it, but I very much doubt he was much more involved than that. He may have been consulted about the tracklisting, but I'd be very surprised if he did much more than approve Virgin's selection.

I LIKE THE BEST OF TUBULAR BELLS, AND CAN I ASK.  WHY THE HELL DO U GUYS THINK THE MILLENIUM BELL IS TUBULAR BELLS 4?.  THE MILLENIUM BELL HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TUBULAR BELLS SERIES, AND WHO THINKS MIKE WILL DO A TB4?.  I WOULD BE SURPRISED IF HE DID'NT DO ANOTHER TB BEFORE HIS NEXT BEST OF CD.

I would reccomend this album to someone who has never heard the life and work of mike oldfield and tubular bells. its a great insight to the variety mike has in his work and is ideal for those who dont have time to listen to the albums.

But for the majority of us. AVOID! :/

Guess we all still buy it otherwise we have a Mike album missing from our collection. Personally i dont mind it, it doesnt offend but i would rather listen to a full TB album as opposed this. Just view it as a compilation album.

There is just too much out there to buy, musically (or non-musically, for that matter! ), and funds are not limitless. I'm not a collector, so it would serve no purpose. Should anyone ever gift it to me, I'll quietly exchange it at the used CD shop for something "new."   :O
