This is great news for all Oldfield fans. I will reserve judgement on the use of software vocalist technology and other things of which I know nothing. I simply look forward to hearing more great music from Mike.

Mike, if you are reading this, "throw us a bone" here. We'd love to hear something like a 10 second snippet "preview" of one of the album tracks, even if it is is in early form! Put something on the web site.

Hi,

I think this is absolutely wonderful news.

I'd like to add a "pretty please" to that demanding message.

Pretty pretty pretty pretty please

Terry.

PS: Anyone want to sell me a second hand tent so I can go and queue outside HMV for 5 months?

Hi MO Fans

My thoughts :-

'double Album' = Yippee !!!!!!!!!!!!!
'atmospheric " Ambient " or " Chillout " pieces' = NOT GAIN ? !! I'll wait and see .... or hear !

Potential downside : Doesn't sound like an album suitable for a concert ! ...... I convinced myself there would be a tour this year esp. after the Spain concert rumours on Tubular.net ! ..........BLAST ! I WAS SO LOOKING FORWARD TO SOME UK CONCERTS THIS YEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!

Neil

P.S. 'Quicksilver' ? .... That was the name of my homemade GO-CART when I was a lad !!! ........without hearing the music how can we decide whether its a good name or not ? Does it imply drowning in a wall of sound ?

Neil

Most of you know this already, but "quicksilver" is another name for "mercury." Not a bad working title, given the circumstances.

Perhaps, like Bob Dylan, he's chasing 'that thin, that wild mercury sound'.....

How many generations "of software virtual vocalists" would it take to approximate Bob's famous "Voice like Sand in Glue" ?

I believe Bob said he can sing better than a software virtual vocalist. And that he can hold his breath twice as long.

Oh you'd definitely have to break the machine......

.....and then install some "genius phrasing" software.

Not possible. It's love it or hate it, buddy. :D

"Hergest Ridge/Ommadawn/Incantations/Amarok" fans should not like this album...I do think,LOL.

Is Mike reading the periodic table of elements? First was Platinum...

This is great news, time to get excited again,a double album :) and it good to see Mike is with a good label like Mercury,so,they should give him some good promotion. He has already had an album called Platinum,so,what's wrong with Quicksilver.

Hey Mike, i called it in one of the other threads. Your new album should be called "Indian Summer", thats what we usually get in September!!!!

Quicksilver is Kitsch, anyway.. Tony Banks and Fish have already used this title for a single they did together in the late 80`s    :)

Yippee, Yippee, Yippee :). I'm looking forward to it.
Friday the 13th is a good day after all, Thursday the 12th was pretty crap, personally speaking.

What exactly is "software vocalist technology"?  I'm assuming it's using computer generated voices, rather than human beings.

But, I'd like to know what you've composed... give us an extract!!!

Will he go on a tour?? I need to see Mike in live.. and this new album could be a good reason to..
